Accounting I
Our Career Training in Accounting 1 is an intensive training that introduces you from fundamental bookkeeping and payroll to intermediate financial accounting and computerized accounting. This training covers three major courses:
- 1· Financial Accounting Level 1 (28 hours);
- 2· Payroll Level 1 (24 hours);
- 3· Computerized Accounting Level 1 (Sage50/QuickBooks) (28 hours).
In this training, you will acquire not only the basic bookkeeping skills, but also enable you to make the adjusting entries and prepare the financial statements. You will also be able to apply Canadian payroll compliance knowledge to manage employee records and to effectively communicate all aspects of the individual pay calculation process to external and internal stakeholders. This training is designed for beginning students or for those wishing to upgrade their skills. As no prerequisites or applications are required, everyone is welcome to register.
Financial Accounting Level 1 (28 hours)
Course Description
This course is a beginning approach to manual accounting. You will lean the theory and practice of accounting; includes procedures in the accounting cycle from journalizing, posting, and the trial balance through the preparation of financial statements, adjusting and closing entries, and the post-closing trial balance. Application of principles is made to service and merchandising enterprises.

Payroll Level I (24 hours)
Section Description
This course introduces you the Canadian payroll concepts and principles, tax responsibilities, and annual reporting. You will know the payroll compliance responsibilities that affect organizations, apply payroll legislation and calculate individual pay. This includes all components of individual pay from remuneration, through deductions, to net pay for both regular and non-regular situations.

Computerized Accounting (Level 1)
Our computerized Accounting courses introduce you step by step to the integrated computerized accounting system using Sage 50, 2017, or QuickBooks, 2017, for Windows. Upon completion, you will be able to establish company records; maintain daily transactions using the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll features; and create financial statements.
Sage 50 Accounting Level 1 (28 hours)
Course Description
This course introduces you how to perform daily accounting tasks using Sage 50 Accounting, which is used by many businesses in BC. Explore the home window and learn the core functionality while accessing the important modules containing the accounting journals used to enter business transactions, including the General Journal, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll modules.

Please note this course is not intended as a bookkeeping course a basic knowledge of Windows & bookkeeping is recommended.

QuickBooks Level 1 (26 hours)
Course Description
This course introduces you how to perform daily accounting tasks using QuickBooks including: working with the Customers Centre, the Employee Centre, and the Vendor Centre; writing cheques, transferring money between accounts, and reconciling accounts; working with asset, liability, and equity accounts; processing sales orders and recording customer payments; accounts payable and accounts receivable; entering and paying bills; and basic payroll functions. Students should be familiar with the following accounting terms: asset, liability, equity, balance sheet, trial balance, income statement, debit & credit, ledger & journal, accounts payable & accounts receivable, and federal government remittance process for GST/HST.

This course has in-class exercises weights 25%, assignments weighs 50%, and one final project weigh 25% toward the final grade.
